Michelin Collection X ( 125 R12 62S )

# Michelin Collection X – A Legacy of Innovation ## Revolutionizing Mobility with Radial Technology The Michelin Collection X represents a milestone in tire engineering, introducing radial construction that redefined performance standards. By decoupling the sidewall and tread functions, this design delivered unmatched road grip, durability, and ride comfort—setting a new benchmark for the automotive industry. ## Pioneering the Future of Driving Launched in 1949, the X tyre was the first radial tire to gain widespread recognition, quickly adopted by leading manufacturers like Lancia, Mercedes, and Volkswagen. Its superior safety, extended tread life, and fuel efficiency made it a preferred choice across diverse vehicle types—from everyday compacts to high-performance grand tourers. ## Why Radial Design Matters Radial construction offers significant advantages over traditional cross-ply designs, including enhanced handling, reduced rolling resistance, and improved comfort due to greater sidewall flexibility. These benefits contributed to its rapid adoption across Europe by the mid-1950s and laid the foundation for modern tire development..
